TWU Calvin Hanson Chapel
Langley, BC
The design concept behind the chapel was meant to honor the past, live in the present and look to the future. Honoring the past history, culture and alumni who cherished the old building for many years was top priority and was expressed by incorporating reclaimed roof beams and a rock wall from the existing chapel building. Present needs of the university and campus user groups were incorporated on a vector that corresponds to the clock tower which keeps the students in the moment. The entrance to the new chapel is along the main entrance and exit to the university, welcoming the future students and inspiring them as they leave to shape their future world.
